Where to go in Jeonbuk

Jeonju Hanok Village

Jeonju 전주

Jeonju is a welcoming stop for hanok lanes and food-focused wandering. Explore the traditional village on foot, make time for bibimbap, and remember that quieter lanes may still be residential.

Build the trip around Jeonju, then add one contrast

Jeonju is the easiest first base in Jeonbuk because food, hanok streets and major visitor services are concentrated enough for a car-free stay. The province becomes more rewarding when the second day adds a different landscape instead of repeating another city walk.

JeonjuStart with the hanok village early, then move to markets and quieter streets. Treat residential lanes respectfully and avoid blocking doorways for photos.
GunsanChoose this port city for modern-history streets and a different urban atmosphere. Check intercity connections rather than assuming a short local hop.
MujuBest for mountain scenery and seasonal outdoor plans. Weather and the final local transfer deserve more attention than the straight-line distance.
WanjuA practical add-on for travelers interested in rural cafés, crafts or slower countryside stops; a car can make the route much easier.

Two-day outline

Day 1: Jeonju Hanok Village, a properly paced lunch and an evening market or riverside walk. Day 2: Gunsan for urban history, or Muju/Wanju for a landscape change. Do not combine all three.
