Find your starting point
Jeju is a province and an island, not one compact city. Use Jeju City for the northern side and Seogwipo for the southern side, then group each day’s stops by area.
Jeju City for northern markets and shore; Seogwipo for waterfalls and the southern coast.

Where to go in Jeju

Jeju City 제주시
The island’s northern city is more than an arrival point. Explore markets and volcanic shoreline around Yongduam, then plan wider island trips by area rather than treating all of Jeju as one compact city.

Seogwipo 서귀포시
Seogwipo anchors the island’s southern coast, with waterfalls, seaside scenery and walking routes. Jeongbang is a signature stop; allow time for stairs and uneven surfaces, and adapt coastal plans to local conditions.

Plan Jeju by coast, not by attraction count
Jeju looks small on a national map, but crossing the island repeatedly can consume the day. Choose a north, south, east or west focus and keep one weather-proof alternative. Wind, rain and sea conditions can affect coastal walks, boats and mountain access even when the forecast looked reasonable the night before.
| North / Jeju City | Best for airport access, markets and a practical first or final night. |
|---|---|
| South / Seogwipo | Use as a base for waterfalls, coastal scenery and slower evening walks. |
| East | Good for volcanic landscapes and sunrise-oriented routes; avoid adding the far west on the same day. |
| West | Build around beaches, museums or cafés, then keep driving time visible in your map app. |
A weather-buffer rule
- Keep one indoor museum, market or café area for rain and strong wind.
- Do not make Hallasan or a ferry the only purpose of a short visit.
- Save the Korean address and entrance for every rural stop; names can point to a broad area.
