Find your starting point
Gyeongsangnam-do combines coastal landscapes with towns that deserve their own time. Tongyeong and Namhae are possible starting points for a sea-focused trip; Jinju offers a different heritage-oriented stop.
Choose one base first: Tongyeong, Namhae or Jinju, according to your interests and transport.

Build a relaxed first visit
Choose one base first: Tongyeong, Namhae or Jinju, according to your interests and transport. Save the exact attraction entrance in your map app and choose a nearby meal stop. Keep the day flexible rather than adding several distant sights.

Pick the right southern base
Gyeongsangnam-do rewards slow travel, but its coastal roads, islands and inland cities do not combine neatly into one day. Pick a base that matches the trip: Tongyeong for harbor scenery, Geoje for island roads and beaches, Jinju for an easier inland city break, or Namhae for a quieter driving route.
| Tongyeong | Good for a compact harbor-centered stay, seafood and access to island or viewpoint plans. |
|---|---|
| Geoje | Best when a car or carefully timed buses can connect spread-out coastal stops. |
| Jinju | A practical inland base for fortress history, the river and simpler intercity transport. |
| Namhae / Hadong | Choose for scenic roads, villages and slower rural pacing; avoid stacking too many photo stops. |
A workable two-day split
Coastal version: sleep in Tongyeong, explore the harbor and one viewpoint on day one, then choose one Geoje or island route on day two. Inland version: use Jinju as the main stop and add Hadong only when transport leaves enough daylight.
