Incheon Airport to Gimpo Airport: AREX, Bus and Flight Connection Checklist

Incheon Airport to Gimpo Airport: AREX, Bus and Flight Connection Checklist

Landing at Incheon and flying out of Gimpo is an airport change, not a gate change. You leave Incheon’s arrivals area, use ground transport, then check in at Gimpo. The Airport Railroad’s All-Stop train is the first route to check; the Express train does not stop at Gimpo Airport.

Choose the transfer method before travel day

These are published adult fares, not guaranteed connection times. An ordinary taxi has no universal airport-to-airport price, so use the official rank and confirm the fare structure instead of treating an online estimate as a fixed quote.

Option Published fare / price basis Why consider it Important catch
AREX All-Stop train (일반열차) Adult fare to Gimpo: ₩4,350 from Incheon T1; ₩4,950 from T2 Direct rail link unaffected by road congestion Choose All-Stop, not the Seoul Station Express; allow time to walk to Gimpo’s flight terminal.
Airport limousine bus 6003 Adult Incheon–Gimpo fare: ₩8,000 Seated option with luggage Traffic varies; buy the required ticket and confirm the correct Gimpo stop.
Official taxi rank Metered fare varies by traffic, time and charges Door-to-door if luggage or mobility makes rail hard There is no reliable flat average; use the designated rank and keep the receipt.

The bus operator lists separate stops for Gimpo’s international and domestic terminals. With train or bus, know which one your onward flight uses. Check your airline’s booking, not only the airport code “GMP”.

How to take the AREX All-Stop train

  1. After completing required entry formalities, follow signs from Incheon T1 or T2 to the Airport Railroad station. The airport’s railroad guide has terminal maps.
  2. Select the All-Stop service toward Seoul Station and confirm Gimpo Airport appears on its station list. Do not buy an Express ticket: it bypasses Gimpo.
  3. Use an accepted transport card or buy a one-way ticket at the machine. The published adult fares are ₩4,350 from T1 and ₩4,950 from T2; verify the machine’s live amount before paying.
  4. Get off at Gimpo Airport station. Follow signs for Domestic Terminal or International Terminal according to your flight. Walking, lifts and check-in still take time.

The train is direct between airport stations, but it has intermediate stops. A timetable is not a connection guarantee. Check the last service if you arrive at night or early morning.

When bus 6003 makes more sense

Bus 6003 runs via Gimpo Airport on its Incheon-to-Seoul route. Its operator lists an ₩8,000 adult fare for the Incheon–Gimpo portion and says a ticket must be issued at a counter or machine. At Incheon T2 the operator shows B1 bay 24; at T1 follow current signs and the route display rather than relying on an old bay number. Confirm today’s departure on the operator’s 6003 page.

Before boarding, tell staff or the driver whether you need Gimpo’s domestic or international terminal. Watch for the stop name and keep any bag claim tag. Road traffic can make the bus a poor choice for a tight flight connection even if its scheduled ride looks short.

Build a buffer around the whole airport change

A 30- or 40-minute ride is not a 30- or 40-minute flight connection. Use the stages below with your actual flights; this is a planning worksheet, not an official minimum connection time.

Stage What to verify
At Incheon Arrival delay, disembarkation, immigration or entry requirements, baggage collection and customs if applicable
Between airports Walk to station or bus bay, wait for service, ride, possible road congestion
At Gimpo Walk to the right terminal, airline check-in and bag-drop cutoff, security and boarding time

If flights are on separate tickets, ask both airlines whether baggage is checked through. Do not assume it is. You may need to collect it at Incheon and check it again at Gimpo, and the public-ground-transport route may require entry into Korea. Confirm entry requirements for your nationality and itinerary with official authorities and the airline before buying a short connection.

Four mistakes travelers make

  • Following “airport transfer” signs inside Incheon. The airside shuttle train moves within Incheon Airport; it does not go to Gimpo. You need the public Airport Railroad or bus after arrivals.
  • Choosing the wrong AREX service. The All-Stop train calls at Gimpo; the Express bypasses it.
  • Thinking “Gimpo Airport station” is the gate. You still have to walk to the correct terminal and clear departure procedures.
  • Using a theoretical minimum. Immigration, bags, service waits and airline cutoffs do not disappear because the airports look close on a map.
